Shankou Mangrove Forest Ecological Reserve is located in the subtropical area, on the east and west sides of Shatian Peninsula, Hepu County, Guangxi, with a total coastline of 50 kilometers and an area of 8,000 square kilometers. It consists of the sea area, upland area, and intertidal zone, being the second national mangrove nature in China. On the east side is the soil developed by volcanic ash, and the tidal flats are fertile with silt. The mangrove trees grow particularly luxuriant. The west bank tidal flat is full of slit, suitable for the growth of mangrove forests. Besides, the geographical location of the protection zone has good light and heat conditions. The low temperature in winter has little impact because the bay intrudes into the interior and has a good sealing property. The wind, tide and residual flow are weak, and the beach is relatively stable. The sweater pollution degree is very low, and the water quality is clean. It is an ideal area for mangrove distribution and survival, and constitutes a good ecosystem.
