Black-Clothes Zhuang has been living in Guangxi for thousands of years. In ancient times, the tribe leader Nonglao was injured by invaders. Luckily, wild indigo has healed his wound. So, he went back to the field and won the war. Since then, wild indigo was worshipped as “miraculous grass” and black clothes dyed by indigo were considered as a shield to protect the tribe.
